My Body Felt No Pain
Out of the blue this morning
Came a golden day
The early fog had lifted
Through my window pane
After last night’s rain
I went into the garden
The flowers fed the bees
I straightened up and breathed in
Apples on the breeze
Glints all through the trees
No thing on earth I wanted
No thought of loss or gain
Nobody worth my envy
My body felt no pain
My body felt no pain
I forgot the hurt I’d suffered
Forgot my deeds of shame
The kestrel high up cared not
And I felt the same
Yes, I felt the same
